PPD = who do you talk to?
Do you call a therapist? Your OB? I don't have a primary care physician....

Thanks ladies.
Do you think I have to make an appointment or can I call the office and leave a message for her to call me back?

you can call the office and have your OB call you back first. He/she will probably want you to come in though.
I had the baby blues big time it never spun into PPD but I had contact with DS Ped. and my OB.

The postpartum resource center of NY can give you referalls for therapists that specialize in PPD.
Please FM if you need anything- I went through this twice and recovered.

Re: PPD = who do you talk to?
You should call your OB. You should go in and see her, and I don't think it could hurt at all to see a therapist. Know you are not alone and it is sooooo common, and good for you for identifying it! A psychiatrist is the best person to be prescribing medication, they have the most knowledge. When I was 3 weeks PP, I thought I had PPD. I brought it up at my OB visit (I was going every week because I had a bad infection at my C-section incision) and he said he thought it was the baby blues, not PPD, and prescribed something to "take the edge off". I love my OB, but got a second opinion from a psychiatrist - I'm very cautious before taking any medication. The psychiatrist actually told me it was anxiety, which I have dealt with in the past, not PPD, but the meds my OB prescribed were exactly what she would have. I feel soooooo much better now being on the anxiety meds - like a new person/ my same old self, if that makes sense. If you need to talk, send a FM anytime.
