Prayers, advice, and dentist needed
I never thought I'd be asking for those 3 things in that particular order before. I started feeling so helpless before and the first place I thought of was this board, b/c I knew I could find the support and help that I need. I immediately felt better just knowing I had someplace to turn.
I'll try to keep this short. My grandmother is in the hospital. DX with congestive heart failure, but it should be manageable. They also saw a mass in her lungs when they did a CT scan, which came a s a total shock to me. It could still be pneumonia, but they will be doing a bronchoscopy on Friday (she's on coumadin...needs to be off it for a few days before procedure). My parents are both gone, so it really is just up to DH and me to handle all of this. We both work full time and I'm having a hard time managing the phone calls, let alone visiting her, and trying to be emotionally strong. It's just so hard watching everyone living their lives and we keep having to postpone ours. I feel like my life is a bad dream, just one tragedy after another. Ok, pity party over.
Now on to the dentist request...
Somehow my grandmothers bottom dentures got lost when they changed her gown and cleaned her up. They must have fallen out and gotten lost in the shuffle. Apparently the nurses aid looked for them and they notified the linen company...I doubt they'll find them. Since my grandmother will be in the hospital for the rest of the week, at least, I can't get her to a dentist. Does anyone know of dentists that make house calls (in the hospital). I have no idea what's involved in getting dentures, but I assume she's going to need a mold made. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'd appreciate any prayers for good news that what they saw on the ct scan was nothing more than an infection and for a speedy recovery.

I'm really sorry to hear about your Grandma. I think the best resource would be the Nassau County Dental Society 516-227-1112 ask for Barbara. Tell her what's going on & see if she can recommend a Dr in Nassau that can do "house calls".

If that doesn't work, contact the social work department in the hospital and get them on it.

Re: Prayers, advice, and dentist needed
Thanks! I've already got a call in to the patient advocate and I'll look into calling the others later. It's hard to do this as a teacher. She's got her uppers, so that's a plus . She'll have to eat soft food for awhile. It'll take a few weeks to get new dentures, so she'll have to manage.
