Pre-baby weight worries

Hi
I'm new here! My husband I have have just started TTC. We are very excited but I am a bit stressed. You see, I currently weight about 10 pounds more than I want to. I have tried to lose the weight on and off for the past few months but have been unsuccessful so far.
Now that we are officially TTC I am worried that I'm going to get even more upset when I start gaining pregnancy weight then I would have been if I was at my normal weight now.
Has anyone else gone through these kinds of weight worries out there? I am so ready to have a baby emotionally..I just wish I was a bit smaller physically!

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome!

Are you 10 pounds over your healthy BMI or just 10 pounds heavier than you wish you were? I find that no matter how much I diet and exercise, whatever I weigh, I wish I weighed 10 pounds less. At a size 8, I would kill to be a size 6. At a size 6, I buy size 4's "for next month, when I lose 10 pounds". The few times in my life I was a 4, I wished I could lose 5 more pounds.

My point is... as long as you're healthy, I wouldn't worry about it! And if you have 10 pounds to lose to be at a healthy BMI, then that's a good goal.

Good luck out there! Chat Icon

Trust me 10 lbs is not going to make much of a difference. Depending on your body and how you eat during pregnancy, I have seen people gain as little as 15-20lbs and as much as 70 lbs. With my son I gained 30 lbs. The best thing to do is to eat healthy for you and the baby and then work on taking it off after the baby. Healthy is best so don't worry too much about weight! Re: Pre-baby weight worries

i have the same stress and anxiety about my weight. I am happy with my weight now. I lost about 70 lbs and have kept it off for 6 years now. I am sooooooo scared to gain weight. I have worked so hard to be healthy and keep the weight off between exercise and eating right. Im worried if i will be able to not give into cravings and having enough energy to keep working out during pregnancy.
