Pre-Natal Classes-- another q

How important is it to take these classes at the hospital where you are delivering?

I am delivering in Manhattan-- and it's not that much of a PITA to get to via car, but mass transit from Hoboken can take a little over an hour with transfers and walking. To take some of these classes that are more like courses would be a total pain, esp at night. If we drive-- we also need to pay for parking.

There is a hospital close to me (within walking distance) and I know they offer classes. I think it might just be easier to do it there-- aside of course from anything that would be specific to my hospital.

Thoughts??

We did not take any classes.

We watched a DVD.

Don't worry. Lots of people don't take any classes. The nurses will tell you what to do.Chat Icon

I would think it's fine to take them elsewhere. I think the only thing that would be specific to your hospital would be a tour of some kind and I'm sure you can arrange that separately if you are interested.

I'm not taking my classes at the hospital, I'm taking them at my OB's office. (Although she is RIGHT across the street from the hospital).

You can take them wherever is more convienent for you.

We took the class and well it was boring .. only thing i liked was the fact we got to walk through L&D. I took a breastfeeding class and that was defiantly worth going too.. funny part that was the free class..

I'm not taking classes at my hospital. I'm also delivering in Manhattan and didn't know any of the hospitals here offered them.

I was luck enough to find a class offered by a L&B nurse from my hospital (Lenox Hill)

I took both classes at a different hospital than I am delivering at. I did however take a tour of L&D at the hospital which I am delivering at.

As for the basic classes....take them wherever is most convenient for you. The information will be the same!
