Pre-natal Massage

I'm going on a girls weekend in November and a bunch of the girls are going to go for spa treatments in the morning. They have pre-natal massage but I have to be honest it makes me nervous.

What do you all think?

Re: Pre-natal Massage

I had a pre-natal massage, do it! It was amazing! I would have gone every week towards the end if I could afford it.

I haven't had one, but I just wanted to say that some spas require you to have a note from your OB okaying it. Just a heads up.

How far along are you in your pregnancy? They are generally not recommended within the first trimester because of increased chance of miscarriage. Also, make sure you get a note from your OB saying its been discussed and its okay. We had massages at a spa for my bachelorette and one of my bridesmaids was about 14 weeks -- the spa refused to touch her without a note for liability purposes.

I had a spa trip booked for when I was 9 or 10 weeks. My doctor said a mssage was fine. He said, if anything avoid foot and ankle massages but he didn't sound to concerned.

The spa DID want a note from my OB.

I would ask your OB if you are worried.

Pre-natal Massage

Thanks everyone. I am going to talk to DH, because its a lot of money and I am only working two days a week at the moment. And then talk to my OB about it. They are booking tomorrow, and I see him next week, so if I can add myself to the girls spa day I will, if I can't it's fine.

Re: Pre-natal Massage

I think it's great if you're not used to a rougher massage. When I go I like deep tissue & to really have my muscles beat up & they won't do that when you're pregnant. It felt SO weak to me, like a massage my mom could have given me. But it depends on what you're used to.
