How far in advance to TTC do you see the doc about these?

I just went to the DR about a month ago because I am planning on starting to TTC in Feb/March 2007. He did not put me on any prenatals.
He did say that when I decide to stop using condoms and start TTC to call him before so he can go over a few things with me. I would imagine at this point, he will give me a prescription for pre natals.
I currently take a multi vitamin and 800 mcg of folic acid a day.

I have been taking mine for a while now. I think it is very important to take them from now.

I was told that as long as I'm taking a multi with folic acid that I should be fine until we start TTC.
When we actually do start, then he said he would write out a prescription for me

My doctor said to start 2-3 months before TTC.

My doctor said that my multivitamin with 800 mg. of folic acid and because it had alot of other things was fine. She said as long as you have 2-3 months of it in your system before TTC.
