Pre-term labor and bed rest
Well I have just returned from spending three days in the hospital for pre-term labor. I started getting contractions Thursday morning but didn't know what they were. I had a doctor's appointment that day and just waited till then. They put me on the fetal monitor and sure enough they were contractions. I also have placenta previa which just increases the craziness! They set up an IV but the contractions only stopped with medicine. Thye kept me for two more days and gave me a steroid shot to develop the babies lungs since I am only 29 weeks. Now I am on bed rest! Anyone go through anything similiar or have any advice? I would really appreciate it!

Re: Pre-term labor and bed rest
when i was PG with DS i was put on bed rest at 32 wks for PT labor. at that pt i was already about 2 cm dilated! i was given steroids for the lungs and meds to stop contractions and i ended up giving birth at 38 wks after being induced. i am so thankful my little guy was able to stay put until full term this time around i have been on bed rest since 16 wks (im 26 wks now) for an incompetent cervix and PT labor...it is definitely not easy, but knowing that is what is best for our LOs makes it worth it.
FM me if you have any questions....
i hope your LO can stay "cooking" for a little while longer. hang in there... good luck
