preggo crashing ? about Gestational Diabetes
I failed the 3 hour glucose test. The nurse I spoke with said I have to see a nutricianist (sp?) and get the one touch to test my blood everyday :( I called my insurance and they don't cover that This really sucks. Has anyone else had GD and did it affect that baby at all??? I am very worried
I just read What to expect and it scared the crap out of me....please tell me that they are talking about worst case senario....

Re: preggo crashing ? about Gestational Diabetes
What To Expect is WAY too extreme in my opinion. I had GD and they had me thinking my baby was going to be enormous. DD was born 6lbs 15oz and she was 2 1/2 weeks early. She was born healthy - her blood sugar was a little low the first day or so (i had a csection) so they did supplement her with formula in the hospital because i wanted to bf.
As long as you monitor your sugar and follow the diet or take any insulin (if you need it) the baby will be fine.
I'm sorry you have it. It is a pain in the neck. I did however have other side effects associated with GD. I had edema and gained alot of weight. My body just went kind of nutso and wasn't processing any carbs at all so according to my perinatal doc. i was just "storing" everything??? hope this info helps! Try not to worry - they monitor you v closely with GD.
