pregnancy after c section
If you had a c section how long did you wait to get pregnant again? I just had DS in June and would like to start trying for my 2nd sooner rather than later. Is there a certain amount of time you have to wait?
If you got pregnant again right away were there any complications?

Re: pregnancy after c section
My Dr suggested waiting 1 year before having another. I never asked her if she meant 1 year to deliver or 1 year to TTC. But anyway it will be almost 2 years when I deliver #2 and will be trying for a VBAC as long as everything is ok.

For me, my dr. specified 1 yr to ttc (so close to 2 years between deliveries) because it can take your uterus up to a year to fully heal and anything before that you can risk your uterus rupturing.

Re: pregnancy after c section
2 years is ideal meaning delivering 2 years after your first. 3 years is ideal for a vbac just went thru all this and had my second DD via c-section again. I tried for a vbabc but was unable to due to her breech position and all the Dr's said the uterous should be completely healed for a sucessful pregnancy. if you get pregnant too soon you risk a miscarriage

That's good. I guess my timing was ok b/c my Dr is ok with me going for a vbac, as long as there are no other complications. of course.

Re: pregnancy after c section
i had a csection with my #1 baby. i was pregnant again 11 months later. now my obgyn NEVER mentioned i should wait a certain amount of time to get pregnant again. But i did have complications. with my 2nd csection for baby #2, they discovered my uterus was paper thin. Therefore, if i wanted to have another baby, it would be very high risk for me and the baby. I wish my doctor would have told me to wait a little longer inbetween pregnancies.

Re: pregnancy after c section
My Dr. told me at least a year between c-sections. My friend just had a baby 18 months after her c-sec with her son and no complications.

Re: pregnancy after c section
I was told to wait 18 months after the c/s to start to try to TTC. We did, DS and DD will be 26 months apart.
