Pregnancy and Anxiety
I get anxiety and panic attacks.. I was feeling fine, but last two days I have been very anxious... I have also been nauseaus so maybe that has something to do with it... I am almost 6 weeks... maybe its the increase in hormones... I dont know... does anyone else suffer from this??

Re: Pregnancy and Anxiety
I didn't suffer from anxiety much before but I have definitely had some moments where I didn't think I could hold it together. I think the hormones make us feel this way.
I would venture to say that as long as you don't have thoughts of harming yourself or your unborn child, you are normal.

Re: Pregnancy and Anxiety
Thanks!... thank goodness I dont have any of those thoughts... my thoughts mostly run along the lines of "what if I pass out and need to go to the hospital?"... "I have a baby in my stomach taking over my body".... "what if I get a panic attack?", is it gonna hurt the baby?"... what if I am nauseaus the entire pregnancy... what if they dont see a heartbeat at my first exam... etc etc etc!

Re: Pregnancy and Anxiety
I work with someone who suffers from panic attacks, and from my conversations with her I can tell that it is not an easy thing to live with. She gets paniced driving on highways so sometimes I go with her on her erands. She also gets them when she flies. She has said to me that sometimes the fear of the panic attact coming in certain situations is worse and actually brings them on.
Talk to your dr. and see what s/he recommends. You also might want to try yoga and breathing techniques to help you through this. I just got a new prenatal yoga dvd that has a lot of deep breathing exercises in it. I'll FM you the information if your interested.
Good luck and feel better.
