pregnancy massage
I loved getting massages before I was pregnant, but I read in a book that you shouldn't get one in the first trimester. Are they okay in the second trimester?

Re: pregnancy massage
I've heard it's fine as long as you get the "pre-natal" one where they massage you a little bit differently and they are supposed to have either a hole in the table or pillows to support your belly.

Re: pregnancy massage
if u didnt post this I would have. I am so scared!!!!!! I love massages too but I heard that the reason they call it prenatal massages is bc they know the spots not to massage bc it can send u into labor. dont know if its true or not but its a little scary.

Re: pregnancy massage
I suggest you go to Edamame, the pregnancy spa. You can go to the Destination Maternity website and you will see the tab. There is one in the city and I think one on LI.

Re: pregnancy massage
I got one in my 2nd trimester- i t was a pregnancy massage at a great spa in NJ!!! I Never laid on my stomach during the massage. Just my back and my sides and then they sat me in one of those chairs that nail salons use for the 10 minute massage.

Same here!!! I've had a GC since last Christmas and now I think I'll just wait to use it as a treat after the babies are born. I'm too scared.

Re: pregnancy massage
I had one done at 25 weeks and just last week at 40 weeks. Both were done with pillows and was SOOOO nice! I had one done in Ocho Rios and the other done at St. Tropez in Port Jefferson.

Re: pregnancy massage
Thanks so much for the advice! I am only just 12 weeks now, so I will probably wait a little bit before I get one anyway, I just really want one! I will check out the special maternity ones though!

Re: pregnancy massage
I had one done at 17 weeks and 37 weeks. They will message you while you are on your side or sitting back at no less than a 45 degree angle. laying on your belly - even with the hole pillow -is not good. It puts pressure on certain artieries, veins and nerves.

At the Park Avenue Salon and Spa. It is in the mall at Eatontown- I forget the name of the mall. It was so nice and relaxing. I was told by other people they wouldn't be able to massage my lower back- but since they had the chair- they were able to. I was very impressed.
