prek stepping up gift?

if your child had a stepping up ceremony from prek to k did you give them any kind of gift
i have twin dds, i plan on taking them out to eat with grandparents, but wanted to get them a little something, def not anything big or expensive especially since their birthday is this week,
they were put into different classes this year and i know that was hard for them but they adjusted so nicely and they work really hard and do well on all the work i see coming home, so i want to make it a special day,
so just looking for any ideas of something small i could get them as a gift

When DS graduated PreK we got him some Kindergarten books from AC Moore. Coloring stuff and letter tracing, etc. Stickers as well along with new crayons and markers.
Nothing crazy and with AC Moore coupons it hardly cost anything.

We also went out to dinner with the grandparents. Took lots of pics and made a cute Snapfish "graduation" photo book with pics of the day with his friends, during the ceremony and dinner with the family.

When my son graduated pre-K last year, we made it more of a special event to celebrate, not so much about gifts.

We went to his graduation ceremony with my parents and FIL, and we went out to a special lunch afterward with the grandparents and had cake back at the house. The grandparents gave a gift (maybe just money, I can't recall), and I don't think DH and I did. If we did it was something small, not something we would get for his birthday or Christmas.

I love the photo book idea def will do that and yes lunch or dinner and I didn't think of the cake back at the house, maybe just a new beanie boo, they love them

We just had all the family back to our house for pizza and heroes.

Lots of the local places were packed and it was much more relaxing for everyone.

I think I bought a Box 'o Wine for the adults and we chilled on the deck while he played with his cousins.
