Prenatal exercise now that the weather is cold
I'm about 13 weeks and due to the horrible fatigue I've been having exercies - daily walks - have become difficult to fit into my day, especially now that it gets dark earlier and its cold out.
I'm playing with the idea of renewing my gym membership, but it pains me to pay $50 my gym (the one DH goes to) just to use the treadmill. When I asked my doctor if I can exercise he only approved me to take walks. I go again on Tuesday I want to ask about other things. I'd love to find a prenatal yoga class... anyone know of any prenatal exercise classes? Where do you take them? What is everyone doing to keep themselves healthy during this time? Diabetes runs in my family so I'm super concerned about not exercising (or not doing so regularly), especially during pregnancy. I hope the fatigue goes away soon, but that doesn't change the weather and the lack of sunlight soon... We have a home eliptical machine, but I haven't been able to keep my footing on that lately (?), so we've thought about selling it somehow and getting a treadmill. I don't see that happening right away though so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Prenatal exercise now that the weather is cold
I haven't been able to find any good prenatal exercise programs in Nassau. I belong to equinox and I take the regular body conditioning classes that use light weights. I also modify most of the ab work and some of the other things as well. Most of the instructors are very good about giving me modifications, but, I often need to take breaks to get my heart rate down.
Do you know why your doctor only approved you for walking and not light weights? If he only approved you for walking i would stick to that but i think that i would just join the gym and hit the treadmill because when you start to get larger and it's cold and icey out the last thing you are going to want to do is walk outside.
I think most Yoga places will offer prenatal classes but I haven't taken one yet. Yoga never really interested me....
