Re: prenatal testing question

The quad screen is done at 16-weeks, right? These tests have so many names, I get confused (I call that one the AFP test, not sure if that's even right!)

Anyway, I just went for mine. The Dr. said that unless your numbers from the nuchal are of concern, you don't NEED to go for the quad testing (bloodwork), that in fact 3 of the tests are practically ancient but they really use the AFP part from that test.

So, long story short, he gave me the choice and said many of his patients take the test anyway. I went the other day for it, just because I figured it can't hurt. It was just 1 vial of blood, and then hopefully I hear results in a week.

I know a lot of girls on here have said that they have personally or know women who have gotten false positives on the test, that it can have a lot of errors, so some don't like to put themselves through the stress of that. It's all personal choice I guess, I would definitely discuss with your doctor based on your nuchal. Hope this helpsChat Icon

Re: prenatal testing question

I did both tests. They are both completly optional and offered through my doctor.
