Prenatal Vitamins = Horse Pills
Okay I started taking my prenatal vitamins that my dr prescibed me. (Mind you my insurance does not cover them, but does cover Viagra). Anywho...i can barely swallow them - they are HUGE!!! There better be a lot of folic acid in them!

You can get pre-natals from other sources. I at first got the prescription but then switched to Trader Joe's brand. As long as they are a multti w/ extra folic acid you should be ok. Oh, and the TJ one's were even cheaper than my co-pay.

Yes indeed!!
Between the Pre-Natals, the Clomid, and the vitamin supplements I'm taking I feel like I spend all day swallowing pills.
But the ones DH takes are twice as big (and twice as many) so I can't complain!!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins = Horse Pills
My Dr. said that a multi vitamin (i was taken woman's one a day) did not have enough folic acid in it. They only cost 20 bucks but i am real peeved off that my insurance company covers a pill for men to enjoy sex and not a pill for preparing your body for baby.

I hear ya on that one.
DH just picked up another bottle of pre-nats for me thee other day. They have 800 mg of folic acid in them (more than a regular multi). I think they cost around $11 for 60 or 90 days. I'll check when I get home tonight.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins = Horse Pills
I actually had my dr. prescribe chewables. Unfortunately, the brand he prescribed cost me 60 for a 3 month supply (this was my co-pay).

OK I just checked. The TRader Joe's Prenatals are 60 tablets and contains 100% of recomended daily allowance of most (a little low on calcium) and 800 mg of Folic Acid.
I used to take Pre-Care but they were $60 with my insurance for a 90 day supply or $20 a month. These work out to be about $6. a month.

You can also take chewable Flintstone Vitamins. My doctor said they're fine, just take two a day.

When I was pg I took the Target brand prenatal vitamins. It was like $8 for 100 pills. The weren't huge either.
