Prenatal Yoga?
Has anyone been doing it? Have you found it helpful? I am thinking of starting it soon. I found a place locally that has a great package -- 12 classes for $120. It's offered once a week for an hour and 15 minutes, so I figured if anything it would be a time to relax and have some peace and quiet! Thoughts?

Re: Prenatal Yoga?
Where are you going? I was thinking about doing this but I am a true beginner with yoga in general so I don't know if I will be received well :/ I need the stretching!

There's a place in Farmingdale on Main Street that I was thinking about trying! The prenatal class is on Tuesdays from 7:30pm-8:45.

I do it and love it. The stretching alone is great. I paid $120 for 6 weeks unlimited and go 3 times a week. No worries about being a beginner all the moves are modified for a beginner. It does help to be familiar with some of the poses just so you don't have to keep your eyes on the instructor but not necessary.

Re: Prenatal Yoga?
I think it all depends on the teacher. i did it with DD and LOVED it. I had an awesome teach (she is in queens).
The class was very relaxing, but also kept me feeling like i was in shape. The teacher was full of great information and was able to talk to us about labor and delivery and what to expect, how to relax etc. She was also very knowledgeable about the pregnancy aches and pains and was able to help us with positions/stretches to help.
i went for prenatal yoga with my second - also in queens but with a diff teacher bc mine was on maternity leave and i hated it. the teacher worked us to the bone. i was sore for 3+ days after taking the class. she seemed to only be knowledgeable about yoga in general and the class although called prenatal yoga did not seem to have any focus on pregnancy

Prenatal Yoga?
I took a few classes when PG with DS and loved it. I found the breathing techniques helped immensely during labor. I plan on going to a few classes with this PG also.

Re: Prenatal Yoga?
I need to get started with this! I practice(d) yoga regularly, but haven't been comfortable going to my regular class because I don't really know what I should/shouldn't be doing. I plan to get back there once I have a bump and it is more noticeable that I'm pg.
I found on youtube this channel called "kyra's kitchen" and it is run by this Danish woman (the videos are in English). Anyway, I stream it on my tv and she has yoga for each trimester. So far I've only done 1st trimester and I like it.

Otherwise I haven't found a prenatal yoga class near me. Anyone have any reccs for Western Nassau?

Freeport seems to be the only place with a dedicated prenatal practice! It's not very near to me, unfortunately. I've heard good things though.
