preparing myself for IVF
With IUI #2 fail, I have one more to go before I can do IVF (insurance requires doing 3 before they will cover IVF).
I have a few questions:
What's the difference between IVF and Micro IVF? Is it just the amount of medications??
What's the timeframe for an IVF cycle - is it all able to be done within one month (like IUI is) or does it take longer?
TIA

Re: preparing myself for IVF
I believe Micro IVF uses less drugs.. The timeframe for IVF is usually 6-7 weeks from start to beta because of being on the pill first. Once you start stims though, yes it's like an IUI timeframe.

Re: preparing myself for IVF
2-3 weeks... it's to suppress your hormones so the doctor can more or less start with a "clean slate" and has more control.

Re: preparing myself for IVF
Not everyone goes on BCP. Start to finish for me, it was 6-7 weeks.
On CD 3, I had an appointment to check my levels and then on CD 21, I started lupron to suppress my cycle. On the next CD 3, I had an appointment and started stims. I stimmed for 9 days and 11 days respectively and then had my ER and ET. 14 days after the ER, you go for your BETA test.
Good Luck!

Re: preparing myself for IVF
micro IVF uses less drugs. sometimes they will just use clomid or others like that. less eggs are produced. if your insurance covers it i would go for the regular IVF you will also hopefully have frozen embryos for future use.

For me I was on BCP for 3 weeks...I was on the antagonist protocol...I then was on stims for 8 days plus a lupron trigger...so in total I started BCP's on 6/15 and had my beta on 7/30 so 6 weeks

Re: preparing myself for IVF
I was never on the pill during any of my 3 IVF cycles. From start to finish (in terms of injecting meds) the cycles lasted 2.5-3 weeks.
I never did IUI. Just jumped right into IVF because our issue is male factor and no matter how many IUIs I do, the sperm would never make it's way to where it's supposed to be! So I had to do IVF with ICSI - and had success.
