Prepping for my drs appointment in a few weeks...
So I have been diagnosed with PCOS and was not TTC so my dr prescribed me provera to take to bring on my period. I went off the pill in August and got a period in January from the provera. Since then I wanted to see if Id get it on my own.. no such luck. So with the tests I have had it is safe to say I have not ovulated in about 9 months.
My annual is due up in May and we want to TTC shortly after. My Gyn said she will prescribe me clomid when we want to start trying to try and get me to ovulate.
So questions:
What is the average "protocal" for starting clomid? Like How much is the standard dosage to start? etc.
Should she be montiroing me or do I use OPKs once I start the clomid?
If I ovulate with clomid will that make me get a period provided that I am not pregnant?
What happens if I do NOT ovulate still?
TIA girls!!!

Re: Prepping for my drs appointment in a few weeks...
I just went through something similar. Once I stopped taking the pill (in order to ttc), I pretty much stopped getting my period.
My doctor gave me Provera to bring on my period, and then I started the Clomid to help me ovulate. I started at 50 mg, and still did not ovulate. I did another 2 cycles at 50mg (and needed Provera each time to start it off). I think if you ovulate you get your period on your own.
Finally, I was increased to 100 mg, and guess what still no ovulation!
Since I am still not ovulating, my doctor recommended I see an RE, so I have an appointment set.
Good luck to you!

Re: Prepping for my drs appointment in a few weeks...
When I was on Clomid my OB/GYN had me temp my cycles. I didn't ovulate on 50 mg., but I did on 100mg. Usually, they will up the dosage to about 200mg. before they change protocol. Also, the Dr. shouldn't keep you on Clomid for more than six cycles at a time as it can thin your lining and/or start to create cysts.
good luck!!

Re: Prepping for my drs appointment in a few weeks...
When I still didn't ovulate, they upped my dosage. When that didn't work, I was sent for a million different tests. I kept pushing because I wanted a baby. That's when they finally figured it out, and here I am at 22 weeks! If you'd like to talk, I'm here! Or if you'd like to talk face-to-face, I'll see you on Saturday! Be sooooo glad that this was caught before you started TTC. That was the only saving grace we had.

I didn't have a problem with ovulation, but they always start out at 50mg and then will go up from there.
I had my best response with 150mg (3 pills/day).
You should be monitored via ultrasound throughout your Clomid cycle. You will probably be using OPKs as well to see when you do ovulate.
Good luck when you're ready!

I agree. Also, if you haven't had a hysteroscopy (checks your tubes), I would get that done. If you have blocked tubes, clomid would be useless and you run the risk of ectopic.
I have PCOS, and I am on metformin. So far, i seem to be ovulating. Good Luck to you!!
