preschool moms I have a question
Do you communicate with the teachers as far as your child and learning.
This is what I mean...
Talia has all of a sudden taken an interest in letters and learning how to write them. I work with her at home - but do you think I should call the school (or send a note with her) and tell them...maybe they have some things she can work on at school to help her learn? Thoughts?

Communication isn't the problem - I can talk to them whenever - I am just wondering if it is appropriate to tell them things like this...or should I let them stick to their routine?

I'm sure they could give her some activities to foster her interests. They probably have centers or activities involving letter building etc.

Re: preschool moms I have a question
Well I would just tell them what you are doing with Talia at home, and ask them if they are doing and writing excerises at school (if they are- ask about them, if they arent ask if they can do some with her)
I don't think its inappropriate at all!!!!

Re: preschool moms I have a question
I'm a Pre-K teacher & I would like to know this info. During centers I would be sure to reinforce these skills w/ that particular child and give him/her things to build upon the skills he/she knows. I'd do it when you drop her off/pick her up.
Just FYI, its great you are working on this at home. We have too many children that barely want to sit down to pick up a crayon, let alone learn their colors/numbers/letters/shapes.

Re: preschool moms I have a question
We (well, DW anyway... ) talk with DS's pre-k teachers. DS is about 2 years+ advanced for his age with reading, writing, colors, numbers, math, etc. This way, they know what he can do, what he is just refusing to do, etc. He needs socialization help (he's the "proper" age for maturity), so we want the school to try and focus on his people skills. I think it helps everyone out if you let them know. DC gets the focused attention they need, the parents are assured that they are doing their best for DC, and the teachers know what to work on.

Re: preschool moms I have a question
I let the teachers teach their curriculum. I'm sure cluing them in wouldn't be a bad thing and is definitely not inappropriate, but I figure the curriculum is in place for a reason.
My 3.5 year old reads, and I have yet to mention it to his teachers. They'll find out all in good time.

Re: preschool moms I have a question
I am betting she has taken an interest because she is already been exposed to it at preschool Talk to the teacher to let her know how much she enjoys it
