Preschool spinoff--dec/jan kids with a younger DC
Would having another DC affect your decision to send DC#1 to preschool? I was leaning towards not sending DS this coming year and waiting until he was almost 4 and just keeping up with our regular activities as I don't want to spend the $ on 3 years of preschool, but someone pointed out I will be a bit more limited since I will have a baby too. My kids are 2 years apart. WWYD?

Re: Preschool spinoff--dec/jan kids with a younger DC
My DD started in the 3 year program this year. My girls are 27 months apart and my younger one is a January baby, which means that they will be 3 years apart in school. I think that this was a good age for DD to start school and I feel like she is learning things that she wouldn't if she was just home with me. I like the fact that she has interaction with other kids. I also like the fact that I have time to devote to my younger DD without my older one being there - the second defintely doesn't get as much attention as the first! Also, if DC#2 is napping it is really great to have some time to yourself.
I am planning on starting my younger (January) dd with a two year old program the september before she turns 3 and sending her to preschool for a total of 3 years.
Maybe look into a 2 day program for the first year? If it isn't working for you, you can always pull him out and then start the following year.

Re: Preschool spinoff--dec/jan kids with a younger DC
My ILs watch DD every day. Starting in May when I go back to work after maternity leave they will be watching both kids. I wanted to put DD#1 in a preschool program starting now because I felt like it would give them a little break. Because it is a separation program and my MIL doesn't really drive my FIL said he would not feel comfortable taking her.
So I'm going to have her start in Sept when she'll be 2 1/2. I'm hoping she'll still take a nap in the afternoon like she does now so with her going to school two mornings and sleeping both afternoons it will give my ILs some down time. Hopefully DD#2 will sleep then for them too and they can even more of a break.

I think preschool is important now. I would still put my child in preschool- even for 2 days a week where your child starts to get used to be away from you. It gives them their "own" time and you time with the baby.
