preschool vent and request for hugs
So on friday T comes home with a notice from school saying "Your children are growing up fast and are not babies anymore. PLease treat them accordingly and remove the following items from their wardrobe... bottles, pacifiers, and onsies."
Ok - I don't know about you guys , but I have a peanut of a toddler and in the winter I plan on putting a onsie on under her clothes everyday. They take the kids out whenever it's 25 degrees or up - so I feel she needs the extra layer.
I know that it is because it makes it harder to change their diapers...not because it makes them feel like "babies". I am so annoyed by this and personally I dont think they have a right to tell me how to properly dress my child - so I am going to put onsies on anyway - tough S!!
ok vent over...
Now I can use some hugs...the transition isn't going as well as I hoped and I am very uptight about dropping her off today...

It will get better.
I do agree with you about the onsie thing. I am always worried that DS or DD are going to catch a draft on their backs if their is no onsie on. If she is a peanut what about sending her in onsie type shirts . I know the Gap has them up until 12-18 months in some of them. Or you could always put a undershirt and tuck it into her pant/skirt if they keep giving you a problem.

Honestly? That woud tick me off! Who the hell are they to tell you when and how to transition your child? My daughter still uses a paci for naps and bedtime, and while we *intend* on weaning her soon, if her daycare sent a note home like that, I would march right back into that room and have a word or two with the teacher
P.S. Every once in a while, Alex still wears a onesie and no one has breathed a word to me about it - then again, by now, they probably know better

My daughter who is over 30 pounds still wears a onesie most days. I like it for warmth and for keeping her hands out of the back of her diaper. (charming I know!) Her preschool has never said a thing. Next thing you know they are going to tell you she should already be potty trained!

I am the anti onesie queen, I hate them but I definitely don't think in the winter they should tell you that you can't use them if you think that is what will keep your child warm. I would definitely talk to the director about it.

That's cr@p! I have to put Andy in a onesie everyday or he scratches his stomach and back so much they bleed. And I don't think I need to share that with the school, how I choose to dress my child is my business.
ETA the hugs I forgot b/c I was so annoyed for you.
I totally understand, I cried the whole way to my car when I dropped her off on Friday.

you should personally speak to whomever wrote the notice. It'll be ok Jen...she'll WANT to go to school soon.

Yeah, I would be very annoyed as well. That is just not right. Not only the onesie thing, but the pacifiers too. I would not want anyone telling me that I have to take things away from DC - especially if they are having a hard time adjusting to preschool.
I hope it goes better.

It does seem unbelievable that the school determines when and how the children will be transitioned...especially the onesie--how is that harming anyone! Katherine was in a onesie until it became warm and I have 2 year ones in her drawer right now for the colder weather. Hell, she still sleeps in a sleep sack!
I hope the morning started well for you!!
