Re: preventing stretch marks
You can't prevent them. You can try, and you MAY get lucky, but that has more to do with genes than anything you can do.
I used cocoa butter cream religiously, oils, rubs, you name it. NOTHING helped. I did not get stretch marks until the 8th month with my 1st, I thought I was going to get lucky, but nope... now I have a road map.

Completely true. I didn't get a single one on my belly from my DD. I did get them on my boobs and I was the most greased up woman on the planet! I thought for sure I would be covered in them, my poor mom . I am hoping I don't get any this time as well...but time will tell!

Re: preventing stretch marks
I've heard it's hereditary too.
While it may not prevent stretch marks, it's still good for you skin to moisturize and drink plenty of water, especially in this weather.

Re: preventing stretch marks
I have been using cocoa butter since almost the beginning of pregnancy, but I am still seeing the beginnings of stretch marks on my boobs... if you are going to get them, you will...

Re: preventing stretch marks
I didn't even think about putting it on my bbs! I was just thinking about stomach, butt and thighs. Thanks a lot!

Re: preventing stretch marks
I am using the Palmer's cocoa butter, but to be honest I have still gotten them. I really just have them around my belly button on my stomach, but as I get bigger, so do they.

Re: preventing stretch marks
i have some from when i was younger and lost a bunch of weight, but i haven't gotten any from the pregnancy yet. I moisturize everyday with palmers or regular lotion. i think its just luck of the draw.

Re: preventing stretch marks
My mom is covered and I didn't get one. I used Queen Helene Cocoa Butter(in the tub found at Kmart) religiously after my showers and Palmers anti-itch oil before bed at night. I truly believe keeping my belly hydrated at all times helped.

Re: preventing stretch marks
Sorry to butt in. I just know about skin stuff. :)
They are usually genetic. No cream can prevent them, but it's always good to keep skin moist. You can also use Mederma during pregnancy. After, your best bet to lighten them is prescription Retin A, but if you breastfeed, you can't use it. Most marks get so light (white) you can't even see them. But when are they are new and red, Retin A can make them go away (to white) faster.
