Previous Owner's Bill
I just received a bill for the Sewer Usage and see that the previous owners did not pay the prevous balance. The previous bill was for 28.00 and plus there is a late charge. Its not much ... but do you think I should not pay it due to principal. Or just eat it up. Just wanted to know your thoughts.
Thanks

is the bill in your name?
when we first moved in we received a bill from the exterminator who sprayed the outside of the house and left us a bill. we called him and he said he forgot the previous owner had moved and to disregard the bill. i doubt you'll get the same type of response from your town (is that who sent the bill?), but it's worth a try to place the call and explain you took occupancy on xx/xx date and this bill does not apply to you. if they give you a hard time, eh, i would possibly pay it (but not without questioning it first)...

Re: Previous Owner's Bill
I would call the attorney you used for your closing and ask. That should have been reconciled at your closing, no?

Re: Previous Owner's Bill
That happened to us and we were told we had to pay it because we owned the property now
It was about the same amount, 28 bucks and some charges

Re: Previous Owner's Bill
I wouldn't make a stink over 28 bucks and would just pay it.. but you can call up your atty. and have the previous owners pay for it/reimburse you.
