Private swimming lessons
A parent of one of my former students has asked me if I would be able to take her daughter who is physcially and cognitivley disabled to the pool to continue some of the things (mostly PT/stretches) that I was doing in the pool with her daughter in school prior to her graduating. I would have them cover admission to the pool but how much should I charge for my services, I have never done home care or tutoring so I have no clue?
Also, I meant to ask one of the PTs or OTs at school if I would be better off suggesting they find a PT or OT who is willing to take her to the pool as maybe they can get it paid for through that . (I'm not sure if she recieves these services at home/community since she is 21 years old.) Is this something I should look into for them? They are financially comfortable, but not rich either, so if I could save them a few bucks and give them the option of doing it this way I would like to.
There is a bit of a language barrier so I want to have all of the info I can so I can more clearly go over it with them.
Other info if it matters: I would also have to work out if I were doing or helping with the changing in the locker room, as that is the "hard" part. I would probably be taking her 3 or 4 times a month. My certifications are Physical Education and water safety instructor , I work in a special education school with a swimming program once a week.

I have never provided swim lessons in the manner you are describing, but for 1 hour private lessons, I have charged between $60 and $75. Look on isport.com for fair rates in your area.

Thanks! I figured I would not find someone in my exact situation, but at least a ball park helps!

Re: Private swimming lessons
I came over from the special needs board. I took my DS to Safe T Swim and the cheapest rate there if you prepay for packages is about $25-30 per half hour, so you should be able to charge at least $50-60 per hour. As a parent of a special needs child, I would probably be willing to pay $60 per hour for a private swim lesson with someone who was really working with him so he could learn techniques and strokes and had experience with special needs kids. We stopped Safe T Swim because we thought he got to a point where they did about all they could with him, he wasn't really learning much that was new anymore - he needs someone who is more skilled than their instructors.
Just to give you some other informaion. my DS got OT at home through the school district. We paid out of pocket for an additional half hour and it was $50 for 30 minutes.
