This is safe, right? I just started using this about three weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I couldn't get my skin back to the way it used to be before changing BCPs all the time. Now I'm worried I'll have to stop it? During pregnancy also? Anyone know?

Oh no! Is it because of the benzoyl peroxide/salycylic acid?? That really stinks, I was liking my clearer skin. It will be worth it though Chat Icon

I think this depends what your Dr. says. My Dr. says it is fine and I have been using Proactiv throughout my pregnancy.

Proactiv does not use salycylic acid...only benzoyl peroxide, which many Dr's say is fine during pregnancy.

Ask your Dr. Benyzoil peroxide is safe in Pg, Salytic acid, retinol, Q10 ARE NOT!

I used Proactiv while ttc and with both Pg's. It was ok'd by my dr.

I don't care what a dr say's. There are no test done so Proactiv does not even know if it is safe or not.

Here is what I found:

I love Proactiv....however, I asked my doctor about Proactiv and she said, "no, since it is not regulated by the FDA". So, I have decided not to use it. I also contacted Proactive via email and asked whether it was safe or not and this is the reply from proactiv.....Thank you for your e-mail. We are unable to state a product is safe to use when pregnant as we are not physicians and it is illegal (for obvious reasons) to test medication on pregnant women."

I wouldn't take a chance just to have clear skin. JMO

I would definitely have to do further research it seems. I would NEVER do anything to jeopardize my unborn child. Clear skin would have to wait.

This is not true....Proactive is safe throughout pregnancy. I have been using it the whole time, after speaking with my doctor. Benzoyl peroxide (the main ingredient) is most definitely safe Chat Icon

I guess it comes down to what your doctor feels is safe and whether you trust your doctor or not (which I hope you would)

It is a personal choice...I love my proactive.....Chat Icon

I guess it is up to the individual doctor because I just had my TTC appt last night and it wasn't even an issue. I'm currently on Retin-A, which I know I cannot continue, and when I asked if I can switch to ProActiv thru TTC and pregnancy she was just like "Sure."

I don't think dr.'s have enough information and I don't think there is really enough research on it to say it is safe or not.

I guess it comes down to what you are comfortable with. I have faith in my doctors and my research shows that benzoyl peroxide is safe during pregnancy. This is the main ingredient in proactove. Chat Icon

Re: Pro Activ Solution and TTC

I used proactive pre TTC, during TTC and have used it sporadically during my pregnancy (I'm 24 weeks). My skin started clearing up over the last 2 months and I'd say I use it once every week or 2 weeks. My doctor said it's fine and the amount you're using is not getting into your bloodflow in any significant amount that will have any affect.

So far everything with my pregnancy has checked out fine.
