Probably getting ahead of myself...but breastfeeding question
I am planning on breastfeeding my baby while I am on maternity leave but I am not comfrotable pumping when I return to work after 12 weeks. I am thinking that I can do something like this
EBF for weeks 1-8
Week 9-10, drop a few of the breastfeeding sessions and replace those with bottled breast milk (If I have enough of a supply) or bottled formula
Week 11-12 - formula feed or bottle feed breastmilk during the day and only breastfeed like 2 times at night (I would try to do this once I go back to work as well)
For moms who tried to wean their babies at around the 3 month mark, does this sound reasonable?
Thanks

Re: Probably getting ahead of myself...but breastfeeding question
This is *almost* exactly what I did. I hated pumping and can't do it at work anyway, so...
My SIL assured me I could continue to BF once I went back to work. She is a teacher like me and BF for 1 year. I thought "Great!" The only problem was, for me, my supply dried up within a week of return to work. The problem was I leave my house at 6am...well before DD woke up and even still...I have like NO time in the am. So, I was only able to BF 2x a day...around 3:30pm and then in the evening.
I think if you can get an AM feeding in, you will be more likely to keep your supply up.
Maybe some other veterans have advice on this one...
Good luck!

My best friend weaned her daughter when she went back to work bc she wasn't able to pump at work. She did BF her daughter in the morning and at night until she was almost 7 months.

Re: Probably getting ahead of myself...but breastfeeding question
Ella never really cared whether she got the boob or bottle, so when I started giving more bottles and less boob in the last few weeks, she didn't even notice. Since it was a gradual decline, I never had engorgement or weaning issues.

This is what I'm trying to do. DD will be 6 months when I return to work. I'm going to try to BF her at 6:30 am before I leave, at 3:45 when I pick her up from daycare & right before she goes to bed. She'll get formula during the day. I really want to BF her for a year. We'll see how it goes. I've dropped one feeding & next week I'll drop the second.
