probably stupid weight question
i know when babies are first born they gain about 1 ounce a day/ 2 pounds a month. how long does this last? will weight gain slow down/speed up as they get older?
i'm trying to buy some summer clothes for a trip in january and i'm trying to estimate what ds will weigh. (he's 11 weeks and already so long he wears 6 month clothing so i'm clueless what to get.)

thats a tough call! dd was born 7 pounds 1 oz and probably right now weighs 19 pounds and is wearing 9 months but alot of her peers are wearing 12 months. I am gonna guess next summer he would be anywhere between 18-24 months but thats a guess (based on your #s)
she is 8 months BTW

Every baby is so different. My DS is 11 weeks old and weighs 14lbs. He is already in 3-6mth. and has been since he was about 7/8 weeks old. Some of the 3-6 mth are running a little small on him. I think that the weight gain does tapper off a bit, but I'm not sure when that starts to happen.

This so true and I have the opposite. My DS was 6lbs, 11oz at birth and is 3 months old, 11lbs and still wearing a few newborn outfits and is just fitting into his 0-3. In fact, we are going on vacation next week and I packed some 3-6 clothes b/c I want him to wear them before the summer is over.

I was at the store today and I was at a loss as to what to buy for fall. I was trying to guesstimate how big she will be, but I'm just clueless. Especially since she is so short. I ended up with some 3 month items that are huge right now, but I'm hoping they will fit her when the weather gets cooler. So of course I'm no help

my ds is also 11 weeks and 14 pounds ewearing 3-6 months for a while now. he's so long.
i hope the things i ordered won't be too small. i ordered a bunch of 12 month stuff (he'll me 8m). getting anything larger seemed too risky.
