problem with cat in the morning
so lately, Miller (our 8 year old tabby cat) has started to meow at the foot of our bed around 330/4 am EVERY SINGLE MORNING!!!
when he first started this, i tried everything to see what he wanted... at first i thought maybe he was hurt or didnt feel good or something, but after i picked him up and started to play with him, he was FINE!! also - he always has enough food and water, so i know thats not the issue.
so knowing that there is nothing wrong with him, i started to spray him with the water bottle every time he started meowing at the foot of our bed.... he eventually gets the idea and stops... i just feel so bad i hate to see him run away scared of me... i have such a soft spot i cant stand it!!! and i cringe at the thought that i will have to keep squirting him EVERY SINGLE night over this
anyways - i know this is a weird behavior... but i wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced this with their cat an what they did about it
TIA

Re: problem with cat in the morning
my cat does this too. it's because he wants attention. he has food and water and a clean little box, he is just being a jerk
when he does that we shut him out of our bedroom, it stops after a few nights.
the water bottle works well too, IMO but we usually save that for places we don't want him to be (like on the dining room table or in the kitchen sink )

well, i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one with this problem!!
the thing is, if we just shut him out, he will scratch on our door... so thats why i started spraying him... my heart breaks just thinking about it
i hope this is short lived!!

Nope your not the only one. Mine will sit and yell at the top of her lungs until i get up to se what she wants. It is not all the time maybe a few times a week but she is very vocal.

Re: problem with cat in the morning
Chloe does this too...except she takes it a step further and jumps on the bed and on my head eats my hair and licks my face.
I use the water bottle too...it works! I feel bad but I can't get up at 4am to play with her. She does this in phases...it will last a morning or two and then not happen again for a month or two.
Good luck

Re: problem with cat in the morning
I've had my cat since I was a teenager, so she was our familiy cat, and now she's mine. But when I lived with my family, we all had to close our bedroom doors because she would come into our rooms at night and try to wake us up. I remember that even if I tried to ignore her while she was on my bed trying to get my attention, she would jump up on my desk and start knocking stuff off of it! So I had to start closing my door.

Re: problem with cat in the morning
My cats love to meow at the top of their lungs in the middle of the night as well. We bought this product called ssscat which at first I though sounded kind of cruel but it works like a charm. It is a can that is motion activated and shoots out air so if the cat starts meowing and comes in the bedroom it releases a puff of air which they do not like. They learn quickly to not meow when the can is around

Re: problem with cat in the morning
Mine yelps every night for a few minutes just as we get into bed and want to fall asleep. She does this while playing with toys around the house. Thank goodness it stops after a few minutes. My previous cat used to yelp every morning and I had to lock her out of the bedroom until it stopped. I totally think it's attention seeking.

Re: problem with cat in the morning
They just did this last night to FH. The smallest cat jumped on the bed around 5:15 and started to purr and lick his face and started to bite his goatee- he got up and she ran into the kitchen, they had eaten 1/2 way through their food bowl and wanted some kitty treats. They like to sit under the cabinet that they are hidden in and put their paws on the cabinet so their daddy gets the clue. During the day its Cute.. at 5:15a ... not so cute...
