Problems with Wood Kingdom East? (long)

Has anyone had problems with them? If so, was it resolved to your satisfaction? Sorry - this is a little long...

We ordered a swing set from them back in late Feb. & were told 4-6 weeks until delivery. After 7w I called for an update & was told it would be there in a day & that they'd call to schedule installation the following Tues. That came & went so I called again last Thurs. (week 8) and was told "No problem - it's in & we'll install it next Tues." which was yesterday. Wellllll...

They came yesterday & installed the wrong set! The set they put in is WAY too big for our little yard (and too "old" for our 2 1/2 year old son) and it had all of the wrong swings on it. DH went out & the guys told him it's a "loaner set" and that our set would be in another 2 weeks. I was pissed off because this is the 1st that we heard of this - had we known we were getting a loaner we would have told them not to bother that we'd just keep waiting for the real set! Now we have a giant set that ds loves & wants to climb all over, but that is too dangerous for him to use! Not to mention that it will now be taken away from him in 2 weeks & he probably won't be as "wowed" by his actual set Chat Icon

DH called WK & the guy who answered was SOOOOO rude to him! He couldn't fathom why we weren't happy because it's a "bigger, more expensive set" even though dh kept explaining why. DH called back a little while later & got a really nice guy who said he had no idea what had happened (no mention of its being a loaner) and promised us that someone would at least drop off a toddler swing that we could use in the meantime...but no one ever showed.

I get that stuff sometimes happens & I'm 39+ weeks pg so I may be overreacting, but this is weird, right? Why pay 2 guys to temporarily install a set & not tell the customer about it?! I honestly think that they just messed up & it's a BS excuse, but really? Now they wasted our time yesterday, gave us something that we can't use & need to seriously police ds around in whenever we're in the yard & they were rude about it...I'm so surprised by all of this Chat Icon

Yes! Yes! Yes! We ordered in early February told it would be delivered around the middle of March. They never called we had to call them got the run around for weeks and weeks. Then they started claiming that it was finally here gave us a delivery date never showed. When my husband called they said sorry we are missing pieces. This went on for weeks and weeks. They would make delivery dates we would arrange things and they would never show. Finally my husband lost it with them told them to get it here either Friday night or Saturday morning or he was going down there. Well Saturday morning he went down the guy said it was on his way so he came home. The people pulled up about 20 minutes later to put it together my DS was so happy was watching out his window only to find out after about a half hour they didn't have all the pieces and had to put it back in the box and leave. My DS was so upset and my husband called told them we want our money back we will never do business with them again and we got our money back.

We found out that the Farmindale location removed themselves from them because of their poor service. So the next day we went their and bought a different set (they don't sell the same ones) and theirs is made in the USA. So much better. We have a delivery date of the 23rd so we will see but they seemed much more put together and knowledgeable.

Also, the day my husband went to the store there was someone else there complaining that people put their set together and it was broken but he couldn't see that it was that night because it was already dark.

We had the same problem but I can honestly say after 2 visits they resolved it.

But yes, they do put them together in the dark using flashlights!

OMG - this is all so ridiculous! Thanks so much for sharing ladies! I wish that we had known sooner...we mistakenly thought that the "east" stores separated themselves from Farmingdale, but it looks like we got it backwards Chat Icon I don't know how they operate like this...

Karen, you've given me some hope though! I'm Chat Icon that this is all resolved in 2 weeks for us too...

I have the same story word for word!

Did you order the Atlantis? We chose that one bc DD is only 18 mo and we have a huge yard, so we were told we can get a bigger set and attach the two when she is older.

after fighting with them all last week (we paid in full in Feb!) we just took the bigger set they delivered. I was sick of fighting and just wanted a damn swingset already.

How ridiculous to give you a loaner swingset! Is it a brand new set? If so, I'm wondering if they just screwed up, and then did a CYA thing by saying it was a loaner.

This is such a joke! I can't believe that it's a common theme of theirs Chat Icon

We ordered the Premier "Playhouse" model because we were told that we could easily add on to it as he got older:

This is what we got instead (w/just the one beam for swings:

It doesn't look it in the pic, but it's pretty dang huge!

Ugh - what a pain! If we had a bigger yard I'd probably feel the same eventually, but our yard isn't too big & the footprint of the set they gave us is really big Chat Icon

Yep! They gave us a brand new, bigger & more expensive set...which is why I also think that they screwed up & are trying to cover their butts Chat Icon

Sorry to crash-we were going to buy a swingset this weekend from WK Farmingdale. Is that the location that is better to buy from? TIA!

To be honest this is where we went after hearing from the guys who came to install the swingset that didn't have all of the pieces he told us to go there they are much better. So we did. They have been so helpful and accommodating so far. As I mentioned below the set isn't going to be installed until the 23rd but my experience so far has been wonderful with them.
