Producing milk already?

I'm only 22 weeks and last week, I started producing milk (to the point where my breasts are getting full and starting to hurt.). I know that it's pretty early that it's happening. Could that mean something's wrong? Should I be concerned and call my doctor? TIA Chat Icon

Thanks, I just don't remember this happening so soon when pregnant with Christopher and even when it did happen, I wasn't so full, I was only producing a little bit.

I had that happen to me with my second and with my third too. With my first born, I didn't get any milk until AFTER I gave birth. It seems a little strange but it's perfectly normal.

Thank you again. Chat Icon One more question, since I am producing early, can I possibly begin pumping and start storing milk closer to when the baby is born or would it be better if I just waited?

I never bf'd so I'm probably not the best person to give advice on that. I'm sorry Chat Icon Chat Icon It seems like a pretty good idea though.

Re: Producing milk already?

I think you can, but I read not to do it and not to play around with it b/c it will/can bring on pre-mature labor.

Re: Producing milk already?

I think you should wait till after the baby is born. I read somewhere that breastfeeding in the 2nd & 3rd trimester takes away nutrients from the baby.
