Progesterone Oil
I used the progesterone oil during my IVF. I injected shots in the upper buttocks for I guess about two weeks. The last shot was August 2nd. I still have welts/puffiness where I got the shots on both sides.
For those of you who have done this - you know how when you got the shot you would need to rub it because it felt like the Progesterone Oil was just sitting there…..it feels like that. It feels like a bump with oil.
How long before these bumps go away? It is normal for this to still feel like this? And it’s itchy.
Any feedback would be great. If not I have a doctor’s appt again Sept 6th so I will just wait till then and find out from the doctor.
I think we are going to do another IVF in October.

Re: Progesterone Oil
Funny, I just started my shots tonight.
Guess I have something to look forward to!
I heated the oil before we injected it and heated the area with a warm, moist towel before and after while massaging it in hopes to avoid the bumps. Some people said that worked for them.
But I also read a lot of people have the same issue you are having - months later they still have the bumps!

Don't be scared! I just wanted to make sure it was normal. It just a "little" annoying that's all.

Re: Progesterone Oil
hi,
I have to say--the progesterone oil freaked me out...I didn't want to do those shots. I read about this stuff called emla cream and I SWEAR******* by it. It numbs the area all the way where u don't even know you ever got a shot..you have to ask "is it done? " The bumps I didn't find horrible. My nurse told me DON't ice it. I know alot of people do but what she said makes sense..put oil in the fridge and see what happens. The Emla cream numbs it so much I actually forget to rub it 1/2 the time..(it does itch) I didn't know what it was at first because I kept reading how painful, can't walk or sit..and to be honest I think its annoying mosquito bites most of the time. I would ask for emal cream--use it and u will be in awe/ I can switch back and forth from that and the suppositories now and I like the shots better./ The crap dripping out is nasty! I think I only have another 6 weeks of them anyhow. good luck!
