Progression?
Had my 39w4d appt yesterday and had zero progress! Still only a fingertip dialated, "soft" cervix and she is up high. I honestly thought and physically felt that I had progressed due to BHs and other pains.
I've been bouncing on my ball, taking 3 capsules of raspberry leaf tea daily, eating spicy foods, staying active (walking, cleaning, shopping)throughout the day (to the point of exhaustion at night). No sex bc DH is freaked out by it so late in the pregnancy. What else can I do to get her moving? Evening Primrose? What did you do that was successful??? Ill try anything, I want to try to avoid being induced!
TIA!!

Not what you want to hear but most of that stuff is old wives tales. I was successfully induced and it was actually great. Dd had dropped though and starting at 36 weeks I had done accupuncture to prep my body for labor.
I think that helped with have a successful induction. They also do special treatments at accupuncture to get the baby to drop, etc.

Progression?
First off as the previous poster said a lot of those things are old wives tales. I tried all that and more and still was induced. The walking old wives tale always makes me laugh the most because I exercise throughout my entire pregnancy and it never started labor! Even at the end. I'm actually running this pregnancy (with encouragement and permission from my ob, so no worries) and have not put myself in early labor either! Lol. I think that one is the most bogus of them all. I'm sorry to say that the baby will come when the baby is ready!!!
Second progress really means diddly squat. You can have no progress at all and then bam labor happens without any indication. Or you can have progress (like I did. I was 100% effaced and 2 cm dilated for 2 weeks!!!!!!!) and nothing happens!!! I still had to be induced despite the fact that I had progress. It really means nothing so don't plsce so much weight on that!
Good luck and I know it's easier said then done but enjoy these last few days alone!

Who do you see for the acupuncture? How many times did you have to go before noticing a difference?

Thanks for all the feedback! My sister laughs at me bc of me feeding into all these old wives tales! It's just so disappointing to think that I was close and end up being so far from where I need to be! Thanks again!

Your level of progress can change very quickly so do not stress over this- I would not recommend pushing yourself to exhaustion during the day --you may regret it when you go into labor-- I dilated very quickly but pushed on and off for 7.5 hours-- if I was exhausted I certainly would have ended up with a c-section. It was really had work and I did not have a transition phase like many women.

Haha I know. I tried everything too! I figured it couldn't hurt. Kwim. But in the end I still was induced so all the spicy food in the world did nothing and trust me I had a lot!!! Lol.
Like I said don't be disappointed. Labor can really happen at anytime regardless if you have progress or not. Try not to drive yourself crazy. I remember how frustrating those last weeks were. And above all don't blame yourself. I always compared myself to others and would question why I was having so much trouble and so many others went early, etc. I know how you feel. It will happen soon enough and you'll have that beautiful baby in your arms.

Re: Progression?
with both kids, i scheduled my induction and went into labor the day after i made the appt with DD at my 41w appt we scheduled an induction for 42 weeks...at 41w1d she arrived on her own. with DS at my 40w appt we scheduled an induction for 41w and he arrived at 40w1d
the reason i scheduled the inductions was bc at the appts i had NOTHING going on (with dd i was .5cm dilated, and not effaced), with DS i was a little more dilated but had been that way for weeks. both of my kids were high and did not end up dropping until my water broke which was while i was in the hospital in labor at 7+cm dilated. so dont stress over progress...it really does can change in an instant.
with DD i tried all the old wives tales...including sex. with ds i didnt bother and i just figured it would happen when he was ready. walking helps progress labor once you are IN labor.
good luck
eta - since you say you want to avoid induction, tell your doctor that. my doctor was ready to induce me at 41w with dd and i literally cried when she told me that, so we put it off a week with the terms that i would go for a non stress test every other day. with DS she told me she would induce me at 38weeks if i wanted to but i kept putting her off. as long as the baby is healthy they should let you go til at least 41w

LI Holistics. I went once a week starting at 36 weeks, but towards the end when there was induction talk I think I went twice a week. They also have this therapy that they do to get the baby to drop. I had a very easy induction even though I went in barely dilated. Delivered same day as induction. It's worth a shot.

Don't worry about progress - it means nothing.
With my son, I had a Dr's appointment at noon and was told I hadn't progressed at all ... about 7 hours later, I was admitted to the hospital, and about 8 hours after that, I was holding my son.
