Prolapse of the rectum - Anyone child's experience this?
I didn't know what it was until this afternoon. Scary is all I can say.
DD has always had an issue with constipation. After being to various doctors and gastros - they recommended I give her a daily laxative (exlax) which has been helping her along.
Well - I recently potty trained her and she is doing great, she just started pooping in the potty, YAY.
Well - today she pooped on the potty - but i guess she strained a bit too much and her rectum prolapsed - meaning a portion of it came out and needed to be pushed back in. I was so terrified I didn't know what to do. I called the peditrician and she told me I could take her in to get it reinserted in her anus again or try to push it in myself. The daring soul I am - attempted to push it back but it wasn't going back so I went in to the pedtrician to get it pushed back in. He did and she wasn't in pain and was playing and sitting without a problem - but man o man I hope this doesn't happen again. It has to be because of the constipation, straining - but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this - or has a child that this has happened too.....

I am so worried about this happening to my DD
Sometimes she strains to go and it has happened during diaper changes, so I have seen somewhat of what you are talking about....Her issues seem to be improving...
Your poor DD

I remember seeing pictures of this in college. It's frightening!! Sounds like you handled the situation terrific. I hope it never happens again

You are a very brave mommy because I have to tell you if I ever saw that happen to DS, it certainly would take care of MY constipation issues

I have to say i was white as a ghost and was about to vomit - I didn't know how to handle it. I was lucky that my husband was home with me - otherwise I would of been in trouble. She wants to do caca again - Im so scared of this occurring again.
