Property Appreciation

Is there like a standard, average percentage that your property appreciates per year, i.e. 3 to 5%?? I would imagine the average would be across the US, rather than by geographic location.

Anyone know-- or have an idea as to where I can find this info??

Re: Property Appreciation

not sure but i would think it depends on the market. i don't know if there really is a standard % but thinking it is based somewhat on what people are willing to spend.

Re: Property Appreciation

it depends on the location and even then - I don't think there is a set amout that every house appericates a certain % a year- there are too many factors to consider

Re: Property Appreciation

I remember reading it in an article-- something by Suze Orman-- if I recall correctly, I think it was 3 to 5% per year depending on the market, etc.

Was just wondering if anyone else had seen anything that could confirm or deny that.

Re: Property Appreciation

generally speaking, Nassau and Suffolk rose 15-20% /year from 2000-2005. Since late 2005 prices haven't risen and some have dropped.

Long term, you may be able to assign an average % of growth, but not every year. It depends on the market - prices didn't move at all in the mid to late 90's.
