Prospect Park?
My company is having their annual picnic at Prospect Park this year. I am debating whether I should go or not.
How is the parking there?
Would you think my DD would enjoy it? (she is almost one and doesn't walk on her own yet)
Not sure if I should go alone or bring her?
Thanks!

Re: Prospect Park?
Prospect Park is huge and there is a lot of stuff to do. Not sure what area you will be in but they have playgrounds, a zoo, a lake, a carousel and of course tons of picnic areas. Being that your LO is still small it's really up to you if you want to bring her. Parking can be a pain.

Re: Prospect Park?
I live right near the park and have my whole life.
where in the park are they having it? it's pretty big.
In terms of parking, I probably wouldn't drive b/c parking there sucks, but depending on where in the park it takes place, you could take the LIRR to Atlantic Terminal and walk. it's a bit of a distance, but not terrible if you have a stroller.
you could also take the 2/3 train to Grand Army Plaza from Atlantic Terminal.
but Prospect Park is awesome. there is a beautiful carousel, the zoo, and a bunch of different play ground areas...a boathouse, an environmental center.
I could give you a better idea of what would be around the picnic if you new which part of the park it was in.
but I would bring her. it's great for kids.

Definitely a kid-friendly park!!!! I would take the LIRR. Parking is kind of a pain.

This is what my co-worker wrote in an email re: the picnic:
"The South Bandshell Area has been reserved; it is located on Prospect Park West and 11th Street. Please enter the park on 11th street, since that is the closest entrance to the picnic area."

Re: Prospect Park?
parking is a nightmare usually, even with all the free street parking around the park, and in the parking fields, but they can be far walk from where you want to be.
I don't know of any parking garages in the area, but to be honest, if we need to go to that area, we always just drive around for 20 minutes we will find parking eventually, and you'll see others doing the same

I grew up on 12th street.
there is a HUGE playground with sprinklers by the bandshell. and the baseball fields are also over there.
I will tell you that it's pretty far, about 1.5 miles from the Atlanic Terminal, but a LOVELY walk from Grand Army Plaza train station, b/c you'll walk from Brooklyn's main library along Prospect Park West.
you can enter from either 9th street and walk through the park to the bandshell or contine along PPW til you get to 11th street.
the carousel is on the other side of the park, closer to Grand Army and not really close to the picnic site.
it's definitely kid friendly, but like I said, the Park is HUGE. and there are tons of kids there all the time. I would probably end up being hyper vigilant of my son and miss out on chatting with my co-workers, unless your office has something planned for the kids.
the picnic area is obscured somewhat, depending on where you sit, from the playground by the bandshell.

This helps a lot! Thank you sooo much! I will probably take the 2/3 train then. I am sure all the kids are going to have a blast!
