Protein/starch/veggie
When planning a meal do you feel like you need to include all of these things? This is how I grew up eating and I notice I do that now as well. I always try to not include a carb (trying to lose weight!) but I always feel unsatisfied. Anyone else like this?

Re: Protein/starch/veggie
I do this. Although as a vegetarian, it is usually more starch and veggies. I can't give up my carbs but I have tried to switch to healthier alternatives (quinoa, brown rice, whole wheat pasta or smaller portions of white pasta). I also try to add in extra veggies to everything I can, like soups, chilis and ground meats, I always cut up onions, celery, carrots, peppers, garlic and fresh tomatoes or tomato sauce put it in every single meal. It fleshes the meal out.

Re: Protein/starch/veggie
No, definitely not. I usually pick either a starch or a veggie, because that's how I grew up. Helps prevent me from eating too much.
My MIL cooks that way - always a protein, starch and veggie - and I always feel so full and bloated after I eat dinner there.
