protonix, nexium PPI
hi girls - -
anyone taking a PPI while pregnant (as needed) like protonix, nexium, prevacid etc? or any other suggestions for gastritis, acid reflux?

Yup. I have a duodenal ulcer and acid reflux. I have been taking Nexium 40mg for years and continue to take it while PG. Still works like a charm!

Yes I have GERD and a hiatal hernia. I take Prevacid 2x a day.

for those of u who suffer from these wondeful tummy probs, do u feel symptoms are better or worse during pregnancy.. my guess worse?! am i right?

I was on protinix for years with severe acid reflux. My Dr. told me I could still take the protinix when I got pregnant but I wanted to see how I did without it, I've never felt better. My heartburn is gone, it's absolutely amazing. I'm sure it will come back at some point and I'll start taking the medicine again but so far so good.

I took prevacid..once a day..I had wicked nasty acid reflux!

I've been taking Nexium for years for reflux. I stopped during the first trimester, and really didn't have any problems that a few Tums couldn't fix. Once I hit the 2nd trimester, my reflux started to get worse, so I started taking Zantac. That worked for a while, then stopped. I was then put on Nexium again. I've been taking Nexium twice a day since 35-36 weeks and I finally have relief!!
A co-worker of mine took her Nexium throughout her entire pregnancy.

Actually not sure about the Class B thing. Sorry! But I take them everyday. My OB said no problem from the start of my pregnancy!
