Providence or Newport, RI with kids?
which one would you suggest for a family trip with two 7-year-old boys?
if you can recommend hotels/activities that would be great!

Providence or Newport, RI with kids?
There’s really not much to do in Providence - it’s tiny. The only kid- friendly activity I’m aware of is the Roger Williams zoo, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be anything special. I have been to providence a million times and can’t think of anything to even recommend lol! So I’d choose Newport for sure.
I haven’t been to Newport in a while and can’t recall any specific recommendations - but it’s a really nice area to visit, esp in the summer -definitely better than providence imo!

Re: Providence or Newport, RI with kids?
I'm taking my daughter and her best friend to Newport in September over the long Rosh Hashanah weekend (2 nights). They are 11.
We are staying at the Howard Johnson because it looks like it has a nice pool which is important to them. There's also an Applebee's attached, and while my preference will be to try unique places, I'm traveling with 2 kids and need options.
Weather permitting, we're going to do the Cliff Walk. I think they will especially love the more rugged parts as they love hiking. We're also going to do a few mansion tours and Fort Adams State Park.
There is an automobile museum there if the boys are into that.

We were just in Newport over mother’s day weekend. My girls are much younger so it’s a little different.
We did three mansion tours. The breakers was the best and they have a kid version of the audio tour which none of the other ones do.
There’s the tennis hall of fame musuem. Automobile musuem. There’s a carousel at Easton beach, Ryan’s arcade. Cliff walk.
Lots of great restaurants. We loved the mooring.

that's when we are going as well!
we're staying at a tiny hotel on the water, right by the tennis museum.
i did not know about the automobile museum. i will definitely check it out.
i may send the boys alone for the cliff walk as i am scared of heights.
thanks for the suggestions!
