PSA - If you use a laptop, please read (esp if you have young children who put things in their mouths)
Tonight I was putting my DDs toys away and when I went to put one of her stacking cups in the basket, I heard something rolling around in it. I looked in and saw a TINY black screw. I panicked and immediately thought one of her toys lost it's screw. So DH and I started checking the toys to find where the screw came from. Almost all of the screws were silver, so I kept thinking WHAT would be black? Then it hit me - my laptop! So I went to check it (in another room) and sure enough one of the tiny screws on the bottom was missing and that was the screw. We had one of those eyeglass screwdrivers and checked each screw (many of them underneath) and a FEW of them were loose!
I am so upset thinking about the possibilities. I assume my 15 mth old DD found it on the couch, b/c often I bring the laptop into the living room while she is playing and use it while on the couch. That would explain why I didn't hear it fall out of the bottom of the laptop. I have to assume she picked it up and put it in her cup, because odds of it falling into there directly from my computer are very small. I thank God I found it, b/c either she could have choked on it or God forbid swallowed it and who knows if it contains lead???? I am sick to my stomach just thinking about it, and I do hope that she was smart enough to not even have put it in her mouth. Dh and I are always in there with her, but of course she is playing with her own toys, so you don't stare at her every minute and apparently we missed this one. So I just want to tell you all to CHECK the screws on your laptops, esp if you bring it from room to room. Me personally, I will be leaving it on my table from now on. I won't be trusting these screws no matter how tight they are.
Just wanted to share...I am sad and upset at the thought of what could have been.
