Thank goodness you looked! How negligent and I hope your DD is okay. FYI this happened to my BIL with Walgreens I believe and he threatened to sue them and they finally responded!

OMG!!! How horrible! Defintiely complain!!
I have worked on two cases against CVS where they did this. One very similar to what happened to you, and another that was horriblely more serious
Let's pray that she is fine and no lawsuits need to be filed

OMG but not surprised that you said it was CVS. That is very scary but I learned my lesson years ago with them. I have had them give me the wrong dose one time, the wrong meds another, and one time they put someone else's meds (same last name, same 1st name - but different spelling) into my bag so I didn't know until I got home - and it was a med I was allergic to.
You think you can trust these places but they are just either too busy or they have inexperienced people working there.
I'm so sorry and I hope that everything will be okay

Sadly this doesnt only happen at Pharmacy's, my nephew was getting his first round of vaccines and luckily my BIL who is very paranoid about the vaccines read the viles while the Dr was prepping to inject them. My BIL saw that two of the vaccines had the same name on them and questioned the Dr.. The Dr just grabbed the viles left, and then came back with new ones without saying a word. Apparently the nurse pulled the wrong vaccine and almost double dosed my nephew. The Dr probably would have never noticed.

Thank GOD you had training and could notice this error. I would have been clueless. Jack was on the same med and I would have not even noticed!
I would sue their pants off btw and I am NOT the type to do that.

Yes, you are right! This happened to us! DD got the MMR a8 15 or 18 months old - can't remember. When we back for her next check up I think at 2 years, they went to give it to her again, and I stopped them before they could THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!! They didn't read the chart that said she got it already!!!!

Hmmm something happened to me at CVS too. It worked in our favor but was still a mistake-instead of filling the prescription as written for Prevacid(30 15 mg solu tabs) they gave us their supply box(100 tabs ) Worked out for us as we were only charged for 30 but it seems they aren't too careful. I was alos at my IL's in Binghamton so not LI OR CT

Also wante dto add why it is so important that electronic medical records are implemented-EVERYTHING would be coded and scanned no human error.

OMG - thankfully you caught it! I've never been one to check my own medications but I have become quite vigilant when it comes to the girls meds to make sure the dosing is what it should be. I hope your daughter is okay

As a pharmacist I'll be the first to admit mistakes happen, unfortunately we're human and there is no foolproof method even with all the double and triple checks we have in place. You advice is excellent. Always check your bag before you leave the pharmacy, ask questions if you're not sure of something this is the easiest way for a mistake to be caught by you or the pharmacist.
I'm disappointed that the pharmacy is blowing you off. They made a mistake and I know the chain I work for we have to record every error in a database.
Try not to panic. You weren't giving her a high dose long term so I am sure she will be just fine.

Our system is very electronic and errors still happen. Nothing is fool proof.

I am so upset for you. Luckily you caught it. Unfortunately I am another victim of cvs's carelessness. Mine was not as serious and I caught that it was the wrong medication as soon as I got it home. When I brought it back the girl just stared at me and had no reaction at all until I asked for a supervisor. I hope you dc is ok!

That is so scary and I hope that Alexa is okay! I am not surprised it was a CVS either. They are notorious for dispensing the wrong medication. They accidentally gave my mom anti-psychotic medication for my then 5 year old brother instead of the ADD medication that he needed!

OMG, I hope she is ok!
Thank you for sharing this.I always check, esp blister packs, even meds for my dogs. You just never know.
Threaten to sue...now your DD has to endure blood tests???? This is all their fault, error or not, she is going to have to endure extra tests, etc...
ETA- How many of the wrong dose pills did she actually take? And were they all on one sheet, or two seperate sheets, or all seperate from the start? I am trying to picture what happened so I can be more vigilant myself.
