PSA: Canine Corral
These guys were also listed under a "sponsored listing" when you google search "LI Puppy Mills" they are a broker of puppies in Huntington Station on NY Ave.
Please do not believe whatever they have to say and do not buy a pup from them.
Prime example of their shady ways: They have a FAKE "guest book"! I tried posting on it and everytime I clicked submit it would not go through. They even went so far as to set up a fake code you need to enter before you can post! Regardless of what you type your post will not work.
At any rate, please steer clear of this place!!
ETA: Sportsmans Kennel (in Manorville) comes up too.

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
I have passed that place a few times recently. It is in the heart of Huntington Station. Many who live over there don't speak English or are illegal immigrants, and probably on a whim go and buy a pup there. I cringe whenever I drive by...it's a huge store with big flags, screams come on in. They have big signs that say PUPPIES for sale, etc.
I shudder to think what goes on in there. I want to cry when I pass it.

Place looks so shady every time I pass it.

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
It's very bad. There was a protest held there last month. I would love to see that place and Sportsmans closed for good.

I am sure half of the people that buy dogs from there discard them or don't keep them....

Many people come from other areas to buy pets there in addition to the customer base right in Huntington Station. People have to pass through that area to get to a lot of places on the North Shore, so the place is very visible. It is obvious that CC does a very high volume. I have heard that their prices are very high, too.

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
i'd like to share that 2 people I know went there and bought a dog and they both died. another girl I worked with bought her dog, while it is healthy now, was incredibly sick for awhile. plain and simple, don't buy a dog from a pet store if you need to buy a dog at all.

Can you post it and let us know? I would like to try to make it, if I know a group is going to be there.

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
Here's their info on protests:
"DEMO./EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH AT CANINE CORRAL
Many Sundays - contact Ann at [email protected] for more information
TIME: 1:30 - 3:30 P.M. NOTE TIME: 1:30-3:30
ADDRESS: 1845 NEW YORK AVENUE HUNTINGTON STATION, NY
Please join LIAA (Long Island Animal Advocates) in their efforts to educate the public of the pet store/puppy mill evil connection. There are so many out there who are not aware of pet stores getting their puppies from “dog concentration camps” (puppy mills). Some are not even aware of what puppy mills are and the horrors connected with them. We have to be there to get the message out. When there are numbers of us out there, we are noticed and have been getting great support from the public. In numbers, there “is” strength. The animals need you to join in this mission. Please make an extra strong effort to join us. Remember: It is for only 2 hours of your time. To the dogs at puppy mills it is a life time of horrors, pain and suffering."

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
I also wanted to add that my dog is a prime example of what can happen to a pet store dog: The owners bought her at a pet store, didn't know what a Weimaraner was and couldn't get rid of her fast enough. If it wasn't for their local pound telling them to contact the Weimie rescue, they were just going to find a pound to take her and get rid of her asap.
Thankfully, things worked out as they did and we have a wonderful, loving pupper.

This is a great org to stay in touch with. They also try to get lawyers to help them raid and close PMs & they rescue the dogs.

Re: PSA: Canine Corral
Im sad to say that 3 years ago i bought my dog there. Thank god that she has been healthy but after i got her i heard such horrible things about the place.
She is a PITA, which probably derives from a lot of things where she used to be. But I love her nonetheless.
I told my DH the other day after watching Oprah that after these doggies die, we will never buy again. Im saving a doggie, no matter what!!!!

I would say no. They might get in the way of the crowd.
