PSA for those closing soon

Please please please, read your closing costs check list with a fine tooth comb at closing! Inspect it, pass it to your DH/DW/SO or whomever you trust, and have them re-read it.

Our mortgage broker tried to charge us twice for our application fee. I noticed it right away and said something. Our lawyer was like wow, good catch.
We called the broker that day and asked for a refund check to be sent out to us. What I should have done was demand that the credit be given then. I was too excited to think clearly.

WELL, 2 months later, 1 bounced check and a lot of phone calls, we finally have our money.

So please, read, re-read and be ANAL!!!

Your lawyer should know all the details of fees too. A good lawyer will know the numbers and know if they are off. JMO

He didn't know that I had sent a check 2 months earlier to the mortgage broker. It wasn't the lawyer's fault at all.
