Pssst - Help - do I tip the guy working on my boiler???
He's been working on it for hours, and is leaving to come back with new parts - do I tip him???

I'd give him $10. It's not going to kill you and its a nice gesture for him. That's just my opinion...

thats what I was thinking - I wasnt sure if he'd think it was weird - is it the norm?

If big company - no
If himself - yes
That probably is the lamest logic...but that's what I'd do.

I don't know if its the norm, but I did it when the gas guy came to fix my boiler!

I use a big company, and used to tip all the time, but when I had a puffback and the head of the oil co. was at my house he told me they are not supposed to accept tips. After being told my boiler was okay and it was not and this happened, I will NEVER tip them again. JMHO

Well - the guy was from Lewisy - he was here at 12:30 on the DOT (when I was told the window was 12:30-3:00) and he just left right now - he worked really hard, told me some things i should do that no one ever told me. He was nice and wanted to touch base with my neighbors to find out if they needed service soon...
I gave him 10 dollars, and he took it... He left my floors messy though... 
Oh well... He DID leave the toilet seat down after he used it!
