Public Adjuster: Sandy & insurance claims

I'm just wondering if anyone is using a public adjuster to negotiate insurance claims.

My co-worker is using one & said his neighbors said it absolutely paid off because he negotiated & got them much more than the insurance company had offered them.

Re: Public Adjuster: Sandy & insurance claims

Many do- but note that the public adjuster gets a cut of it. so in the end, it could work out to be the same amount.

Most companies try to do the best and offer the most they can for a claim.

If you had flooding in your home, make sure your agent also puts a claim in through your home insurer. You may be able to collect through water backup coverage(which should be on your policy). Usually people carry 5 or 10k for water backup with a $250 to $500 ded.

I am considering it. Please let me know if you have someone to recommend. It's probably time for me to take my own advice to awalys be represented by someone who knows the ins and outs!
