Public Storage Facility...have you used one and which...

one? We need to store all of our belongings, which really isn't much, while we move and buy a place. We'll be staying with my parents for a few months so, who have you used and approx. how much did it cost?
TIA!

We have one. We are expanding our house right now and had to move most of our stuff out. I believe it's called Public Storage. The price varies on the size of the room - I think ours is about 10x12 and we pay somewhere around $160 per month I believe.

ETA: sorry - not Public Storage. It's Premier Storage. We have no issues with them.

I had an awful experience with Public Storage.

They had an option similar to the "POD" service that is popular now.

They said they would deliver anywhere, but apparently that didn't incelude Westchester (from Queens)

They didn't tell me this untill moving day, when I was at my new place & they weren't. Chat Icon

We rescheduled, but even on the 2nd day--it wasn't clear if they were actually going to show up & we almosbt rneted a U-haul to go get everything.

When I did get my stuff, it was all ok-- no damage or missing items. You lock up the unit & keep the key, which is nice.

They were just very disorganized & rude, My roommate used them too & they lost her reservation.

ETA--this was in 2000, so I don't remember the cost & it probalby isn't relevant.

I used Public Storage when I was in Columbus, OH and never had an issue. I had 24/7 access to the space. It was not cheap bt they had 24 hr security and cameras to protect the stuff and the people going in and out.

Re: Public Storage Facility...have you used one and which...

I used Public Storage twice. The first time was for a move and storage for 3 months and then they delivered to my new apartment. They brought two huge closet-like boxes and packed them up with my belongings. I then put my own locks on them and kept the keys. Anytime I needed access to the boxes I had to give them notice - 24 hours maybe? I can't recall how much it was a month, but I'm pretty sure the whole thing (move, storage, etc. cost me less than $400). That one was through their facility on 110 in Farmingdale area.

Then when DH moved into my co-op and before we bought our house we stored his stuff in a 5x5 room. I think it was $80 a month. That was at their facility in Bay Shore.

Both times it worked out great. No complaints at all.

(edited for spelling)

I have a unit at the facility on 110 closer to the SS. They are the best...the people who run it (Angel and Meridith) go out of their way for you, they are just real people. There was a point last year when they were thinking about leaving to go to another storage company - I would have moved all my stuff.
FM me if you would like more details.
