Pulling feeling when I twist

Sometimes if I twist a certain way, (like seated at my desk and I turn my upper torso to reach something, or if I'm lying on the couch and I turn a little to get comfortable), I feel a quick pulling feeling near my ovary (depending on which side I'm turning to). It almost feels like I am popping a muscle. Its not really painful, but am I doing any harm Chat Icon

Re: Pulling feeling when I twist

Idk how far along you are but it sounds like round ligament, I get them all the time when I twist the wrong way. I'm pretty sure you're not harming the baby in any way, they're nestled pretty deep in there all cushioned up just be mindful not to over stretch or lift anything heavy and you'll be fine.

Re: Pulling feeling when I twist

That definitely sounds like round ligament pain.

This is the way I understand the round ligament, so see if this helps you identify what's hurting:

Basically, there's an attachment between the base of your pelvis to the top of your uterus, kinda like a rubber band. Usually, your uterus is like 4 inches big (I'm exaggerating, but this gives you an idea) and the rubber band is pretty loose since it doesn't stretch far. As your uterus grows when you're pregnant, that band -- the round ligament -- stretches more and more and more. It always stays attached to the top of your uterus from the base, but now instead of just being an easy 4 inches big, it becomes more and more stretched. I'm 32 weeks and it's probably like 12 inches now! But even at 8 weeks, it's starting to pull apart (it won't break, but it stretches gently... and sometimes not so gently).

That stretchy part is always in the same place, but when you turn and twist your body, you're putting additional pressure on the already stretching band! Picture a rubber band inside from your vagina to your belly button, but now it's starting to stretch further and further away up towards your lungs... and then you twist your body and suddenly you're causing that band to try to stretch up and sideways too! That's why it hurts!

Making slower movements and trying to move your whole body together can help you not get as much pain.

I hope that helps! Sometimes understanding why you get pain will help you visualize it and prevent it, or at least not have anxiety with it.
