Pulling out bushes with your truck...
We are going to "attempt" to pull out the ugly bushes that line the edge of our front yard this weekend. I remember a few people did this by using their car/truck/SUV.
We don't have a trailer hitch for our SUV...can we just get a tow rope and tie it to the axle? And, did you just knot the rope around the base of the bush?
HELP!

We did this twice.
The first time, the stumps were so big. We tied the rope around the base of the stumps and around the axel of the Jeep (jeep liberty). The jeep could not pull them out. It sounded like we were going to break the axel apart. My neighbor came over to help with his big pick-up truck. First they dug around the stump alot to loosen it. Then they had to ax through some of the big roots. After this, my neighbors truck easily pulled them out, rope tied to hitch.
The next time we tried to use the jeep, the stumps were smaller. First we dug around the stumps to loosen them and again axed the big roots. We tied to front of axel and pulled them out in reverse.

I personally would not tie anything to the axle of the car. You can risk doing some serious damage to the car.
I would only use an installed hitch to tow or pull things out.

That is what I am worried about. They are not substantial bushes, but there are about 20 of them lining our property that need to come out. It would take forever and a day to dig them up...
