pumping and business trips
I just got back to work this week and was informed that i have to go away on a business trip this summer (its not a surprise, i was just hoping to get out of it this summer but its required). anyway, for now i am pumping at work and breast feeding once in the morning and twice at night. my supply at work already seems somewhat low so now im concerned about what will happen in July. I know legally they have to allow me to pump but the conference set up, schedule etc makes it really difficult (ill end up needing to go back to the hotel to pump). Ill be away from DD for 4.5 days. I should be able to pump as many times as i need from 4:30pm - 9am...but the daytime will be tough. Will my supply totally diminish if i go 4 days without pumping for 7 hours?? i would really like to continue to breast feed dd for longer. anyone have any advice on how to handle this? im going to call the hotel and tell them i need a refrigerator in the room so that i can hopefully bring home some of the milk - im just hoping i have milk to bring home

You should really try not to go 7 hours without pumping. It's good that you are thinking of this now. What I would do is pump at 8:45AM, and then try to pump around lunchtime - you should get a break, right? If you can't get back to your hotel, bring a hand pump and pump in the bathroom. I know that is not ideal, but at least you are doing something. Then pump again when you get back to the hotel at 4:30ish and then I'd do 7:30pm and 10:30pm.

Re: pumping and business trips
I think I would try and at least pump once during that 7 hour stretch- is there a conference administrator or someone planning the trip? When I went on my trips and was bf'ing, I contacted that person and they scheduled a place for me to pump.
