The puppy didnt know any better. It was only a few weeks old and might have tried nursing on the babies toes.

Oh my goodness this is so sad...as a dog owner I would first of all never leave my child unattended, especially a little baby...I wonder where the parents were????? The baby had to be crying hysterically when the puppy was chewing on its toes...
The puppy is soooo cute and innocent...I hope someone adopts and raises it as a good dog.
Shame on the parents for creating such a situation.

I agree. But I understand that the shelter has to be very careful who they give that puppy too.

Well I'm sure the puppy didn't know what it was doing....
Its not like the dog is bad, I'm sure if a couple adopted it and didn't have children it wouldn't be a problem.
It looks as though its more of the parents fault for what happened, I mean how didn't they not hear there baby crying and wake up, its not like it takes 2 seconds to bite a toe off??

I think this is probably what happened. I once had to hand raise two puppies whose mother abandoned them shortly after they were born. At night when they were in their beds, they would try to nurse from each other - it was the saddest thing.
I feel bad for this poor baby too. I can't imagine how the parents slept!

as for the pup, he looks like he's only about 4 weeks old. he doesnt know better. they teeth, they nurse, etc.

I can't believe I am saying this, but that poor little puppy!! OMG!!! This is the saddest story ever!!
I mean it's OBVIOUS that we feel for the baby... that is an absolute understatement. It's a horrible thing to happen!
But W T F with the parents?!?!?! They didn't know that their puppy was chewing off their baby's toes when it was sleeping right next to them!?!??!  Shouldn't they be looking into that!?!? Did you see their pictures!??! AYE!
