Puppy-theme party ideas
We're doing a puppy theme for DD's 2nd birthday, an outside party at our house for only about 20 people (incl. only a few kids).
We have a ton of outside toys, so that's not an issue...just looking to do more "theme stuff" since I love theme stuff.
Any food or game ideas?
I've already thought of a lot of things: - I'm going to make some sort of puppy cake. Puppy cupcakes too.
-Got a pin-the-nose on the puppy game. Going to put the dog shaped rubber duckies (from Oriental Trading) in the pool/water table/etc. Already got some puppy decorations. Puppy hats for the kids, etc.
- Doing adorable favor bags (doggy bags ) with dog-themed things in there.
- Kids are going to decorate foam dog-bone shaped placemats, a few other crafts available.
What other food things fit the theme? We'll do hotdogs obviously and deviled dogs, as well as dog-bone shaped cookies. We'll be doing maily BBQ-type stuff I think, but any other dog-theme food you can think of?

Re: Puppy-theme party ideas
* Pass the bone (like hot potato but use the chewy bone dog toy as the "potato")
* Follow the paw prints. Cut out paw prints (out of felt or construction paper). Have them lead kids to different areas of the house where you have an object hidden. Like a puppy inspired scavenger hunt.

Re: Puppy-theme party ideas
Is it crazy to buy new dog dishes and use them as your serving bowls or is that too unappetizing for people?
Something like this:

I have wondered this myself Not sure if people would be grossed out or not...I mean, they should know they're new since I don't have a dog

Drop the dog bones/biscuits in the jar? Like the clothespin game (if you remember that).

For favors you could also do doggy or dog bone shaped chocolates.

Re: Puppy-theme party ideas
You could do a variation on the spider web game.
Make it a find the end of the "leash"
Tie one end of the leash (you could use ribbon) around a dog bone (do one for each kid) and then weave them around stakes, lawn chairs, trees (whatever you can put in your yard) and through each other to make a web. The kids each start at the dog bone and have to wind the ribbon around the bone, untangeling the web. Whoever gets tot he end first wins
